Avalanche warning for region Lofoten og Vesterålen Wednesday 19.05.2021

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
The snowpack is generally stabilized. In steep terrain small wet avalanches can release naturally or by skiers.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Tuesday 18. May 2021

Mountain weather

Tuesday 18. May 2021

6 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from northeast, changing to strong breeze from the south during renoon. 3 °C to 10 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Wednesday 19. May 2021

0-3 mm precipitation. Fresh breeze from south. 1 °C to 6 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
